Amazon is huge and continues to grow and keep people coming back for more. But one of their best features is their baby registry service.
If you have made use of this service in the past, you probably know what I mean. First of all, it is very user-friendly (for the most part).
Second, you are sure to find everything and anything for your baby. And finally, you get loads of discounts and promotions that are exclusive to you.
After recommending the Amazon baby registry for so long, I felt it was a good idea to write an Amazon baby registry review.

How Does the Amazon Baby Registry Work?
We all know Amazon is fabulous and you can find just about anything on there, right? That extends to their baby registry too.
But, what is a baby registry and how does it actually work? Let’s review that first!
What Is a Baby Registry?
A baby registry is a list you set up for your baby (and in some cases for yourself too). It contains items which you feel would be the most beneficial to you and your newborn baby. Your friends and family can then view the list you compile and buy from it.
Having a baby gift registry setup also allows expectant parents to keep track of what they have received and what they still need.
How Does a Baby Registry Work?
A baby registry is created either online or at a specific store. You can set up a baby gift registry at many stores – it is all up to you.
Once you have created your list, the online platform or retail store will manage the registry for you. You will receive a personalized link to your baby registry to share with your friends and family.
Once something on the list has been purchased it will update and show that it is no longer needed. Additionally, when you set up a baby registry it can be edited. If you decide you no longer want a certain item, you can simply remove it from the list.
Having a baby registry eliminates a lot of hassle for everyone and can be a big timesaver.
Amazon Baby Registry Review Of Benefits
There are many places, both online and brick and mortar stores, that offer fantastic baby registry services. With that said, I am a huge fan of the Amazon baby registry! It is such a convenient service and so simple to set up.
When you sign up for an Amazon baby registry the benefits are plenty. Here are some of the amazing things you can look forward to.
Completion Discount
One of the big benefits of an Amazon baby registry is the completion discount. This means if you are not a Prime member, you get a one-time 10% discount when you purchase items from your baby registry. The discount applies to the entire order.
Now, if you are Prime member this one-time discount is increased to 15% off!
A completion discount is a really nice touch because it is basically inevitable that you will not receive everything on your list. This way you can still purchase these items and save some much needed cash.
Free Welcome Box
We all love freebies, am I right? And especially when it comes to free things for your baby.
When you sign up for an Amazon baby registry AND you are an Amazon Prime member, you are entitled to a FREE welcome box. In order to receive your welcome box you will need to complete over 60% of your checklist and have at least $10 in purchases from your baby registry. The purchases can be made by you or someone else.
The welcome box will contain various items pertaining to your pregnancy and could be either samples or full size products. Boxes and contents will vary depending on stock availability.
Once you have reached the requirements needed to receive your box, you can log in to your Amazon account and claim your offer.
Universal Baby Registry
The universal baby registry feature on Amazon is an incredible invention. It means that you can add items from other sites to your Amazon baby registry.
All you have to do is install a registry button on your browser (which is super simple). When you are on another site and see something you like, click the registry button and it adds the item to your Amazon baby registry.
How cool is that? So now you can have just about anything you want listed all in one place.
First Year Diaper Discount – NO LONGER AVAILABLE
THIS DISCOUNT IS NO LONGER OFFERED – UPDATED 1/9/23
Even though Amazon has taken the diaper discount away, you can still save on diapers with Amazon’s Subscribe and Save. You can get either get 5% or 15% off depending on how large your order is.
Who said buying diapers would be fun? Well it can be when you are getting a 20% diaper discount for the first year.
This is another really awesome benefit of the Amazon baby registry because buying diapers can be extremely costly, especially in the first year of your baby’s life.
How can you get this discount? You need to have over $500 of purchases from your baby registry (either completed by yourself or someone else).
Once this has been done, Amazon automatically adds a 20% discount coupon to your account for any eligible diaper purchases for the next 12 months.
It’s important to note this discount lasts for a year or once you have reached $300 in savings on diapers – whichever comes first.
Organized List of Who Bought What
On your Amazon baby registry when someone purchases an item you will be able to see who did. This helps immensely when it comes time to write thank you notes.
And it helps keep track of baby items that were not purchased too.
Easy Returns
Is something not working the way you thought? Maybe something came in the wrong color. Returns with Amazon are really easy and no fuss.
Items purchased by the registry owner can be returned for free within 90 days of shipping. Items purchased as gifts by friends and family can be returned within 365 of shipping for free.

Do I Need Amazon Prime To Create an Amazon Baby Registry?
Although you do not need an Amazon Prime account to create an Amazon baby registry, there are added benefits if you do. One such benefit is the free welcome box.
In general, having Amazon Prime can offer various discounts and special offers – so it may be worth looking into, especially with a baby on the way.

Amazon Baby Registry Returns Review
Sometimes the gifts you receive for your baby may not necessarily be to your taste, they are broken, you get duplicates, they might not fit correctly, etc. Being able to return items easily and effortlessly is important.
As previously discussed, the return of goods purchased from your registry list is fairly simple. The most important things to note are:

Finally before I sign off, here is a summary of resources you might find helpful as you prepare for the arrival of your baby:
Just wanted to let you know this info is out of date. Amazon no longer offers the year of 20% diaper discount. Only their 15% completion discount and it’s limited.
Oh wow Katie, thanks so much for letting me know. I just updated the post accordingly. It’s too bad Amazon took that discount away.
