17 Newborn Twin Essentials & Necessities (A Twin Mom’s List)

Understanding what you need for twins versus a single baby can be a little bit confusing. What do you need two of and what don’t you need two of? You also need quite a bit of baby gear that you will only use for the first few months of your twins’ lives.

I am a twin mom myself and in this post I am sharing my list of newborn twin essentials. These are just the must have, necessary items for the newborn stage with twins.

How Long is the Newborn Twin Stage?

I generally think of the newborn stage as the first 6 weeks of a baby’s life. There are a variety of definitions for when the newborn stage ends.

Overall, I define the newborn stage as ending once your baby starts showing signs of a sleeping pattern. This generally happens around 6-8 weeks old. However, if your twins are born early the newborn stage might last longer.

Now that you know approximately how long the newborn stage is, let’s review the newborn twin essentials list, along with the quantity you will need of each item. I have included links to my favorite products as well, so you can easily add them to your baby registry or buy them.

I also want to add that this is meant to be a simple bulleted list that you can quickly refer to and it is only the bare necessity items you need to get through the newborn twin stage. Some items you will use longer and there are more items you will need to get after your babies are around 3-6 months old.
