What Should My Uterus & Belly Size Be at 10 Weeks Pregnant With Twins?
Belly and uterus size at 10 weeks pregnant differs from person to person. If you are skinny or it is not your first pregnancy, your belly will be more noticeable compared to plus-size women or women pregnant for the first time.
At this point in pregnancy you might personally notice a little bloating or you might not. It is unlikely others will be able to tell you are pregnant.
You yourself might not even be able to notice a difference in your belly size. As your pregnancy with twins moves along, your belly will be more visible and your uterus will grow larger than someone expecting only one baby.
How Big Are Twins at 10 Weeks Gestation?
At 10 weeks gestation each twin baby is around 1.2-1.5 inches long (around 3.5 cm). This is similar to the size of a cherry.
The weight of each baby is around 0.13-0.15 ounces. Amazingly, your babies have developed all their essential organs at this stage and will continue to grow.
What Should I Expect at My 10 Week Twin Pregnancy Ultrasound & Doctor Appointment?
At a 10 week twin pregnancy doctor’s appointment your potential pregnancy risks and how to care for yourself might be discussed. The doctor will perform a pelvic exam.
You might be given a vaginal ultrasound to check that your babies are growing as they should. Moreover, during the ultrasound, you will hear your babies heartbeats.
Your blood pressure, weight, blood sugar, and other essential things like hemoglobin and Rh factor will likely be checked as well. Some items you might want to discuss at your appointment include:
- Recommended weight gain
- Exercise plan
- Recommended diet
- Birth plan
- Any required vaccinations
- If you can travel or not
Typical 10 Weeks Pregnant With Twins Symptoms
Let’s review the symptoms you might experience at 10 weeks of twin pregnancy.
- Morning sickness – it is not unusual to be severely sick. This stage is often the peak of sickness.
- Sore or tender breasts
- Tiredness
- Aches and pains around the abdomen
- Increased vaginal discharge or sometimes spotting
- Mood swings – hormones are fluctuating a lot
Remember that these are some common first trimester pregnancy symptoms, and symptoms do vary widely from person to person.
When Will I Start Feeling Better?
The first trimester can be very frustrating because expecting twin moms are often extremely sick. However, you can expect to start feeling better at 12-14 weeks, which is the start of your second trimester.
Typically, the second trimester is the easiest phase of pregnancy. When the third trimester of twin pregnancy hits, you will eventually feel uncomfortable because of your increased size and swelling in your body.
What If I Have No Symptoms? Is That a Bad Sign?
Pregnancy symptoms are very volatile. They differ from person to person. Even the same person will feel different symptoms for different pregnancies.
Not having pregnancy symptoms does not necessarily mean anything is wrong. Pregnancy symptoms can also come and go.
If you had strong symptoms before but do not feel anything now, it’s usually not a reason to worry. However, if you are concerned it’s best to talk to your doctor.
Will I Be Able To Feel My Twins Move at 10 Weeks Pregnant?
You cannot expect to feel your babies moving before 16-24 weeks of pregnancy. 10 weeks of pregnancy is too early. Your babies are very small and might not even be moving yet, so you cannot feel any fluttering.

What Is My Miscarriage Risk During Twin Pregnancy at 10 Weeks?
Miscarriage risk is around 0.7 percent during pregnancy at 10 weeks. As pregnancy progresses, miscarriage risk drastically reduces. If your babies are doing well at 10 weeks, there is a strong chance you will not miscarry.
What To Do To Prepare at 10 Weeks Pregnant With Twins
You may or may not want to start shopping for your twins now. I recommend waiting until you are in your 2nd trimester with twins though. Additionally, you might want to know their sex before buying too many things.
Now is a good time to start shopping for yourself though! You might also want to start planning for your second and third trimesters. Here are a few things you should consider getting for yourself.
1 – Maternity Clothing
As you gain more weight, you will start to feel uncomfortable in your usual clothes. So it is an excellent time to start planning what maternity clothes you need for twin pregnancy.
You don’t have to buy them yet, but you can get a few things to have if you want to. I recommend starting with maternity jeans or leggings and a few tops.
2 – Comfortable Bras
You might want to buy a maternity bra to stay comfortable as your breasts will be sore.
3 – Comfortable Shoes
Swelling of your feet and ankles may hit any time during or after the second trimester. It is best to have a pair of very comfortable shoes.
Keep in mind as your belly grows it will be harder to bend to tie your shoes, so consider getting slip-ons.
4 – Pregnancy or Body Pillow
Once it starts, your belly will grow really fast. Sleep during twin pregnancy can be difficult. That’s why a pregnancy pillow can be a life-saver to make you more comfortable and allow you to sleep better.
5 – Twin Pregnancy Planner or Checklists
Stay organized and understand everything you need to get done before your twins arrive. Get a Twin Pregnancy Planner and Journal to both create a pregnancy memory book and keep track of what you need to do and when.
6 – Twin Pregnancy Books
Read up about being pregnant with twins. My top recommendations are:
- When You’re Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads
- What to Do When You’re Having Two
- Dad’s Guide to Twins

7 – Belly Butter
The skin of your growing belly will stretch. It will become itchy.
You will want a good belly butter to massage your belly regularly. Applying lotion on the belly regularly will also reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
8 – Hot Water Bottle/Bag
The aches and pains will hit you as your babies and body grow. If you don’t have a hot water bottle to relieve the aches and pains, this is a good time to buy it.
It turns out that 10 weeks pregnant with twins is a pretty big milestone during the first trimester.
Your babies will be about the size of a cherry at 10 weeks pregnant. You might be very sick right now, but you will (hopefully) start to feel better in the coming weeks.
This is the best time to prepare for your second and third trimesters. You could consider buying maternity clothes, maternity bras, slip-on shoes, twin pregnancy books, body pillows, and body butter. I wish you a wonderful rest of twin pregnancy!
